A launching workshop kicked off

A one day workshop has been held at amaro Kele to officially announce the start of a project on tsetse/trypanosomiasis control and farmers empowerment. The project agreement is signed between Agri Service Ethiopia that has intervened in the area since long and an international intergovernmental scientific organization called International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE).

ICIPE established to carry out strategic and applied research to improve humans, animal, plant and environment health, income generation, innovative technology development and transfer, capacity building and sustainable development in the tropics with emphasis in Africa in general and conducting integrated community based tsetse/trypanosomiasis monitoring/control and capacity building activities to target communities particularly in Ethiopia .

The objective of the workshop focuses on how to create synergy among different stake holders in order to create sustainable trip in Tryponomiosis control.

Representatives of the workshop were from four adjacent woredas that involve government and agropastoralist partners. ICIPE scientists SNNPR Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development, livestock research director, STEP representative and Oromia Regional Bureau representative attended the workshop.

 

Training of Trainer (ToT) course held at Amaro Program Office

A two days (Novemember 16 -17, 2007) ToT course was organized by ASE Amaro Program Office for development facilitators and project officer on "Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) and guideline, polices and strategies to establish Community Based Institutions (CBI).

The main objectives of the training was

1. To familiarize principles, concept and practical application of PLA

2. To introduce participants steps and procedures requried for the establishment of CBI at woreda and kebele level.

The training was indispensably important to run program activities there by meet program objectives and contribute to ensure organizational mission, vision and goal.
